Fresh off leading the University of Minnesota Duluth to back-to-back victories over Top 10 opponents, Kate Lange (offensive) and Ashley Hinsch (setter) were named Players of the Week by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Monday. It marks the third time Lange has earned the award this fall, and the second for Hinsch.

Lange added two more spectacular outings to her résumé, leading the Bulldogs to wins over Concordia University-St. Paul and Minnesota State University-Mankato at Romano Gymnasium less than 24 hours apart.

The 2011 first team All-American posted 25 kills in Friday night’s win over No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul, marking the sixth time she’s broken the 20-kill plateau this season. She followed that up with 18 kills in Saturday’s straight-set clipping of No. 10 Minnesota State. For the weekend, Lange posted 43 kills (6.14 per set) on 96 swings while adding 14 digs and six total blocks. Her kills per set average now sits at 5.15 for the year, which leads all of NCAA II.

Hinsch dished out 92 assists (13.14 per set) as the Bulldogs improved to 9-0 at home on the year. UMD hit a league-high .276 for the weekend behind Hinsch, who also racked up 12 digs and three total blocks over the two-match stretch.

The Zumbrota, Minn., native currently ranks third in the NSIC in assists per set with an average of 12.51 through 37 frames this fall.

The Bulldogs hit the road for conference clashes at the University of Mary and Minot State University on Friday and Saturday.
