Proctor Moves To 4-1 With Win Over Deer River

The Proctor Rails picked up their third straight win as the Rails defeated the Warriors of Deer River Friday night by a score of 33-6 at Terry Egerdahl Field in Proctor. The non-conference victory was the third straight win since their week two loss to Hermantown.


The Rails got on the score board first Friday when Calen Porter picked up a Lance Latvala fumble and scampered in to the end zone on an 8 yard fumble return. Jack Nikko kicked the extra point and the Rails led 7-0.


The Rails made it 14-0 in the second quarter when Nikko scored on a four yard run and then added the extra point to make it 14-0 as the first half ended. The Rails made it 21-0 in the third quarter when Alex Greene scored on a 21 yard touchdown run.


Frank Napoli made it 27-0 in the third quarter when he scored on a 54 yard touchdown run as the Rails continued to increase their lead. The Rails made it 33-0 in the fourth quarter when Brody Nordquist connected with Nate Layne on a 10 yard touchdown pass to make it a 33 point lead late in the fourth.


The Warriors scored their lone touchdown late in the second half when Jesse Miller scored on a 7 yard touchdown run with 39 seconds remaining in the game. The Rails defense held the Warriors to 149 yards of total offense while Proctor racked up 343 total yards.


Alex Greene finished with 145 yards rushing on the night for the Rails; seven Rail players racked up positive rushing yards on the night. Alex Kiminki led the Rails with 8 solo tackles on the night; he also assisted on one tackle and had a sack for Proctor.


The Rails improve to 4-1 on the season and they are back in action again next Friday night when they host Cloquet. The Warriors fall to 2-3 on the season and they will host Cook County next Friday night in Deer River.
