It isn’t often there is a tie in tennis, but that is exactly what happened in Ashland’s 4-2 win over Hermantown on Tuesday evening. A normal tennis match includes four singles and three doubles matches for a total of seven points. On Tuesday night Molly Demars and Danielle Luke ended up in a 5-6, 6-4 tie when the game was called because of darkness.

Ashland picked up the overall win by a 4-2 score with wins at #1 and #3 singles. Olivia Bretting and Hailey Thompson defeated Madelyn Miller and Bailey O’Connell respectively. The Oredockers also got a win at #4 singles when Alison Tollas downed Hermantown’s Stephanie Collins 6-4, 6-3.

The Hawks notched their wins at #1 doubles and #3 doubles. At #1 doubles it was Anna VanDeelen and Mariah Ruhanen beating Mackenzie Klemek and Sonya Morvd 6-1, 6-1. At #3 doubles it was the Hermantown duo of Elizabeth Heehn and Jordan Cuva downing Kaia Sateren and Marilyn Alexander 6-3, 6-2. The Hawks #2 doubles team of Elizabeth Carlson and Brianna Garcia-Meyers fell 6-4, 7-5 to Emily Graff and Keauna Olson of Ashland.

The Hawks will be back on the court on Thursday when they host Duluth Denfeld.
