Hawks Fall 6-1 To Grand Rapids-Greenway

It was a tough day on the court for the Hermantown girls tennis team on Tuesday. The young Hawks team who continue to improve managed only one match victory in a 6-1 loss to Grand Rapids-Greenway. The Hawks lone win was at #2 singles by Danielle Luke who defeated Maria Stampohar 7-5, 6-2.

At #1 singles it was Madelyn Miller dropping a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Carlie Ridgeway and that was followed by losses at #3 singles by Bailey O’Connell and at #4 singles by Stephanie Collins. O’Connell fell 6-2, 7-5 to Emma Wagner and Collins dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match to Megan Dulong.

Grand Rapids-Greenway continued their dominance in doubles play by sweeping all three matches. At #1 doubles the Hawks team of Anna VanDeelen lost 6-3, 6-4 to Maria Linder and Megan Ritter. At #2 the Hermantown team of Jordan Cuva and Brianna Garcia-Meyers fell 6-1, 6-1 to Morgan Bellefy and Linsey Frazer. Finally at #3 it was the Hawks duo of Elizabeth Heehn and Rebecca Henningson dropping a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Maddy Illikainen and Elizabeth Reibel.


The Hawks will be back on the court on Wednesday when they host Duluth Marshall.
