With 11 returning players this year, the Esko-Carlton girls’ soccer team should be able to make a lot of noise in sectional play this season.

“Our short term goal is to progress throughout the season as a team,” explained third year head coach Nicki Peterson. “We want to be playing our best soccer at the end of the season.”

The Eskomos lost 4 players to graduation, but the return of 11 of their top players means the outlook is good for a bright season ahead. Among the top returners will be leading scorer Amanda Bergstedt, midfield anchor Kate Marquis, Hope Anderson and Jill Tomczak on defense and Emily Johnson in the nets.

“Many of these girls have been on varsity the past 3 and 4 seasons,” recalled Peterson. “They will be disappointed with anything less than a section championship and an appearance at state.”
