The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys soccer team finished fourth in the Lake Superior Conference last season. The Lumberjacks lost 3 All-Conference players last year. Included in that loss was Jordan Tucker, who passed away just after the season ended.

“We lost some exceptionally talented players to graduation including All-Conference players Colton Roy, Jeff Lindemood and goaltender Jordan Tucker,” recalled Coach Archie Clark. “Jordan tragically died after the season was over and we will do our best to uphold his memory and high standards in this and upcoming seasons.”

The Jacks have a strong nucleus of players returning. Ben Scheuer, who was also All-Conference as a junior, will lead the team and Landen Straub, who excelled up front as a freshman last year, will be counted on to help in the scoring department.

“We will count on Straub as well as a host of others to give us an added scoring punch,” remarked Clark. “Our challenge is to replace our back four defenders and our goalkeeper. Our season will largely depend on how these players in the back come together.”

CEC finished 8-8-2 last season and their goals this year are similar to what they are at the start of every season–to win the conference title and the section playoffs.
