After going 0-3 in a tournament in the Twin Cities over the weekend, the Hermantown softball team bounced back with a 6-0 win over Proctor. Not only did the Hawks get a shutout win, they got a perfectly pitched game from junior hurler Katie Thun.

Over the weekend the Hawks participated in a tournament in the cities that featured some of the top big-school teams in the state. The Hawks went into the tournament with a 9-0 record, and despite losing all three games, they got a chance to test their abilities against some of the best teams Minnesota has to offer and that should play well for Hermantown come tournament time.

Thun got the perfect game and fanned 12 Rails batters. She also smacked out two hits and added three RBI’s.

Also aiding the Hermantown cause was Shawna Johnson who had three hits and Celine Francisco who recorded two RBI’s.

The Hawks are now 10-3 on the season. They will host Ashland on Thursday.
