Eskomos Compete In Packer Invite

The Esko boys and girls track team traveled to Austin Minnesota on Saturday to compete in the Packer Invitational Track meet at the Austin Wescott Sports Complex. The Esko boys and girls team, competing with much larger schools from southern Minnesota found themselves very competitive in both the boys and girls divisions.


The Esko boys placed fourth overall Saturday, finishing with 74 total points, Rochester Mayo won the boys meet with 169 points, Mankato East finished second with 140, Rochester Century was third with 117, and Austin was fifth with 54 points on the afternoon.


Rochester Century won the girls meet with a total of 201.75 points, Owatonna was second with 140.5 points and Austin placed third with 95. The Lady Eskomos like the boys, also placed fourth as they finished with 76.5 points. Rounding out the rest of the top five was Mankato East who finished with 64.5 points on the afternoon.


Esko had first places finishes in the 100 meter dash as Riley Mudek took home first place with a time of 11.77 seconds; Mudek also finished third in the 400 meter dash. Max Reinertsen captured the triple jump Saturday with a jump of 47′ 6”, and the Esko 4×100 meter relay team with a time of 46.55 seconds. Jackson Lindquist was third in the 3200 meter run and Ben Bisel was third in the high jump. Tyler Denzler was second in the discus throw.


The Lady Eskomos had only one first place finish which was the girls 4X800 meter relay as they finished in a time with 10:00.77. The Eskomos also finished well in other events, including Erika Shady, who was third in the 200 meter dash, Kate Shelerud finished second in the 400 meter dash, Caitlin Lilly was second in the 100 meter hurdles, and the relay teams finished second in the 4X100 meter relay and the 4X400 meter relay.


The Eskomos boys and girls track teams will be back in action again on Tuesday afternoon when they will compete in the Two Harbors Invitational at Two Harbors High School. The Eskomos will also compete in a team meet Thursday at Hermantown.
