South Ridge Girls Beat Denfeld From Long Range

The South Ridge Panthers had four players in double figures on Tuesday night as the Panthers picked up a dominate non-conference win at home as the Panthers finished up their regular season with two straight victories.


The Panthers hit 11 3-pointers on the night as the Hunters tried to stay with South Ridge to no avail. Kourtney Karppinen hit six long range bombs while Mikayala Olesiak added 5 in the Panthers win at home.


South Ridge jumped out to an early first half lead of 43-26 at halftime. Leah Hamm connected on four 3-pointers for Denfeld but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers continued to roll in the second half coming away with the 37 point win.


Kendra Dallman and Karppinen both finished with 21 points for South Ridge. Olesiak added 15, it was Alyssa Johnson scoring 10 points, and Justice Janke added 7, while Laurel Morris and Kaylee Hage both closed the scoring with 4 points on the night.


The Hunters were led by Leah Hamm, who finished with 17 points. Rebecca Hendrickson added 10, Haylee Johnson chipped in with 4, Ashley Taipale 3, Melissa Jarvi, Ciarra Taipale, Chandler Micheau, Tyler Ballavance, and Lexi Hill all added 2 points, and it was Emily DesMarais with 1.


The Panthers finish their season with an overall record of 12-12 and will begin sectional play next Thursday night. Hunters fall to 5-18 on the season as they also finish up the season Tuesday night. The Hunters will begin section play next Wednesday night on the road.
