The Carlton Bulldogs picked up their fourth win of the season with a 68-65 win over the Spartans in this section 7A matchup behind Eric Adams huge 35 point night. The Bulldogs, who had lost five straight games, also improve to 3-6 in sectional play.


Adams 35 points led all scorers on the night and Lane Empson connected on three long range bombs as the Bulldogs win by three points at home. Carlton jumped out to a seven point 30-23 lead at halftime.


The Spartans outscored the Bulldogs 42-38 in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs picked up the win at home. Carlton had three players who scored in double figures on the night and they also connected on five 3-pointers on the night.


The Bulldogs were led by Adams and his 35 points, Empson added 12 points, it was Dominic Bennett adding 10 points, while Kyle Gunderson chipped in with 4 points, and it was Zach Veno rounding out the Bulldogs scoring with 3 points on the night.


The Spartans had four players in double figures led by Jordan Pertalo and Chris Meadows who both finished with 19 points, Josh Engel added 13, Anthony Arnesen 11, AJ Emanuel added 3, and it was Steve Shields who finished with 1 point.


The Win moves the Bulldogs to 4-13 on the season and they are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Cromwell in a Polar League contest. The Bulldogs will also host Floodwood next Friday night as Carlton celebrates Homecoming.

The Spartans fall to 7-12 overall on the season and they fall to 6-8 in sectional play. The Spartans are back in action again on Tuesday night when they will face the Cherry Tigers in a sectional contest at Cherry High School.
