Barnum Rebounds From 1 Point Loss

CARLTON- On Friday the Bombers let one slip away against the Cook County Vikings and they were looking to rebound in Carlton against the Polar League Rival Bulldogs and that’s exactly what they did Monday night as the Bombers beat the Bulldogs by a score of 73-40.

The Bulldogs, who played a very good Moose Lake-Willow River Rebel team on Friday and stayed nice and close, losing by 14 points. But on Monday the Bombers came out on fire as they started by using pressure defense and great shooting to blow out to an early lead.

The Bombers, who jumped out to a 32-16 lead midway through the first half, saw that lead increase to 44-19 at halftime as the Bombers outscored the Bulldogs 18-5 over the last six minutes of the half. The Bombers were aided by outstanding shooting, as they connected on 53% of their shots in the first half.

The second half saw the Bombers continue their outstanding shooting as they continued to expand their lead. The Bombers used more pressure defense to force Carlton into turnovers and they could never get their momentum going on offense.

The Bombers were led in scoring by Jacob Naslund with 14 points, followed by Rodney Mullen who finished with 11, Danny Warpaula, Jacob Blummer, and Bobby Minkinnen all scored 9, Brandon Newman scored 7, Jaxson Turner added 6, Branden King and Zach Carlson both rounded out the scoring with 4.

The Bulldogs were led by Erik Adams who finished with a game high 17, Dominic Bennett and Lane Empson both added 6, Kyle Gunderson and Zach Veno each scored 4, Spencer Walton scored 2 points and rounding out the Bulldogs scoring was Cade Pierson finished with 1.

The Bombers improve to 15-3 on the season and they will be back in action again on Thursday when they play at Hill City in a non-conference match-up. They will be home on Friday night to play McGregor in a Polar League battle.


The Bulldogs fall to 3-16 on the season and they will be in action again on Thursday when they host Nashwauk-Keewatin. Next Tuesday the Bulldogs will host the Cromwell Cardinals in a Polar League contest.
