Broman Hits For 44 As Lions Top Cromwell

Anders Broman continued his assault on state scoring records as on Saturday he helped lead his Lakeview Christian Academy Lions to a section win Saturday afternoon over the Cromwell Cardinals by a score of 98-56.


The Lions jumped out fast against the Cardinals as they built up a 40 point 72-32 lead at halftime in Cromwell. The Lions continued to roll outscoring the Cardinals by two points in the second half to come away with the 42 point win.


Broman who recently broke Joel McDonald’s Northeastern Minnesota scoring record, moved into third place all time with a 44 point performance on Saturday against the Cardinals as the Lions picked up the section win.


Broman’s effort Saturday moved him one point past Isiah Dahlman into third place on the all time scoring list. Kevin Noreen is the state’s all time leading scorer with 4086 points in his high school career.


The Lions were led by Broman and his 44 points including four 3-pointers, Luke Borchardt added 26, Bjorn Broman scored 18, Johnathan Hardesty chipped in with 5, Ethan Lawler scored 3 and it was Delton Steede rounding out the scoring with 2 points.


The Cardinals were led by Jake Ramberg and his 14 points, Joe Couture added 13, Jared Hutar, Austin Johnson, and Josh Oliver all finished with 6 points, Luis martins added 4, Alex Hakamaki chipped in with 3, and it was Richard Olson and Austin Pfisthner each adding 2 points in the loss.


The Lions improve to 17-3 on the season with the section win Saturday. They also improved to 9-0 in sectional play on the season. Lakeview Christian Academy will be in action again on Thursday when they will play at Two Harbors.


The Cardinals fall to 4-13 overall on the season and they fall to 4-6 in sectional play with the loss on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals are back in action again Tuesday night when they play at Northland in another sectional game.
