For the second time in a month, the New Prague boys hockey team has made the trip north to take on the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks. And for the second time in a month the Jacks came out on the top end of the scoreboard, this time a 3-2 win at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.

Earlier this season the Jacks met up with New Prague in the semi-finals of the Heritage Christmas Tournament in Duluth, with the Jacks netting a 5-1 win.

On Friday the Jacks started in a bit of a hole when the first shot on goal by Jack Pexa found its way in the net to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead just 26 seconds into the game. Kellin Lamirande tied things up at with a goal at the 5:58 mark with the assists going to Eric Peterson and Drew Dincau.

With :29 seconds remaining in the period, Lamirande then put the Jacks on top 2-1 with a power play goal, which was part of a five minute major when the Trojans were called for checking from behind. Assisting on the goal was Adam Hanson and Dincau.

Beau Michaud tallied an even strength goal midway thought the second period with first line teammates Westin Michaud and Karson Kuhlman assisting to put the Jacks up 3-1. At the 13:33 mark of the period the Jacks were called for holding which was their only penalty of the game. New Prague wasted little time making the Jacks pay when just 18 seconds later Cody Meyer scored the power play goal to cut the lead to 3-2. Although the Trojans peppered the net with shots in the final two minutes of the game, CEC netminder John Scheuer was up to the task to preserve the 3-2 win.

Scheuer made a total of 15 saves on 17 shots while his counterpart Joe Morris stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced.

CEC will have a quick turnaround when they travel to St. Francis for a Saturday night game against the Fighting Saints.
