The Hermantown Hawks soared to a 15 point halftime lead and rode the momentum to a 73-45 win over Cloquet in girls basketball on Thursday night.

Leading 36-21 at halftime the Hawks, facing a depleted Lumberjacks squad, took the game going away. Carmen Bergstedt led the Hawks with 20 points, Rachael Hoium added 12 and it was 10 for Emily Neumann.

The Hawks added five 3-pointers to their offensive arsenal while Cloquet did not hit one long-range shot all night.

To the Lumberjacks credit, despite playing minus four players due to injuries they still scrapped throughout the game, but the Hawks had just too much fire power.

Avery Bieri led the Lumberjacks with 12 points, both Kenzie Rathe and Reilly Kedrowski finished with 11 points, Morgan Jenson contributed eight points, Carrie Zeadow had two points and Jordan Hanson had a single point for the Jacks.

The win pushes the Hawks record to 13-5 overall and 7-2 in the Lake Superior Conference.
