Cloquet Girls Get 56-50 Victory Over Proctor

Cloquet’s ability to get to the free throw line helped them take a 56-50 win over Proctor in girls basketball on Friday night in Proctor.

The Lumberjacks scored 23 points from the line, while Proctor had 13 points from the charity stripe. In all Cloquet shot 36 free throws during the game and the Rails shot 18. Ironically, the Rails made 18 shots from the field to just 15 for the Jacks.

Avery Bieri led Cloquet with 15 points, both Grace Sinisalo and Courtney Thompson finished with 10 points, Krista Schmitz added eight, both Amy Campbell and Kenzie Rathe added four points, Morgan Jenson finished with three and Carri Zeadow recorded a point.

Leading the Rails were Micayla Westendorf with 20 points and Bridget Tesser who had 13 points. Also scoring for the Rails were; Laura Talarico with six, Kyra Harty and Brianna Westendorf each had four and Steph Torgeson recorded two points.

The Lumberjacks held a slim 26-22 lead at halftime and outscored the rails 30-28 in the second half which was just enough to take the win.


For the Jacks it is their fourth win of the season while Proctor falls to 2-8 overall.
