Cloquet Boys Pick Up 62-50 Win Over Chisago Lakes

Adam Laine led Cloquet with 23 points and the Lumberjacks picked up a big 62-50 boys basketball victory over Chisago Lakes Area on Saturday in non-conference play.

The Lumberjacks zipped out to a 37-17 halftime lead as Laine led the way along with Trent Moe (15-points) and Zach Peterson (10-points). Also scoring for the Jacks were Dillon Johnson who had seven, Nate Weets with five and Sean Ferrell who had two points.

Chisago Lakes outscored Cloquet 33-25 in the second half and put their hopes on 3-point shots, but they had too big a hole to dig out of from halftime.

Leading Chisago Lakes in scoring was Peter Tengwall with 11 points, both Clay Houfer and Vinnie Gorski had 10 points, Per Gulbranson scored seven, it was five points for Mitch Berg, both Will Gillach and Adam Sapp had three points and Andy Paulon scored a single point.

For the game the Lumberjacks made 22 shots from the field to just 17 for CLA; however Chisago Lakes Area did hit six 3-pointers compared to a pair of 3-pointers for the Lumberjacks.


With the win the Jacks are now 4-7 on the season. Cloquet will be back on the hard-court Thursday when they host the Hermantown Hawks in a huge Lake Superior Conference match-up.
