Duluth natives and St. Scholastica women’s soccer players Megan Flesvig (Duluth, Minn. /Proctor HS) and Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) were both named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-North Region second team; it was announced on Saturday.

Both players’ honors are the first NCAA all-region recognition for a CSS women’s soccer player. The Saints qualified for their fourth NCAA Tournament this past season before losing to third-ranked Trinity University (Texas) in the first round.

Flesvig, a senior defender, was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference’s (UMAC) Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She led a defensive that was nearly impossible to score on in league play. The Saints allowed just one goal in the conference during the regular season and at one point had a shutout streak of 11 consecutive games, totaling 1,041 minutes and 14 seconds. The Proctor High School grad was also named to the UMAC’s First Team for the second year in a row.

In just her first season, Kehtel, a forward, was named the UMAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year after totaling 20 goals and 44 points. The Duluth East graduate recorded 12 more goals than the next-closest Saint and had 22 more points. The 20 goals were the most by a freshman in program history and were the 17th most in the nation this season. Five of her 20 goals were game-winners. She scored four goals in the postseason, with two taking place during the UMAC Tournament on her way to being named tournament MVP and two unassisted goals in the NCAA First Round loss to Trinity.
