Hermantown Girls Get Sixth Straight Win

A showdown may be eminent this weekend when Hermantown plays in the Esko Coaches Classic girls basketball tournament. The Hawks are undefeated as are the hometown Eskomos and Hermantown appears to be a team to be reckoned with after picking up their sixth straight season by on Monday by beating Proctor 70-39.

So far this season the Hawks have averaged scoring over 60 points a game and hold their opposition to just 38 points per game. On Monday they scored 37 points in the first half which was not a good sign for the Rails who trailed 37-20 at halftime.

Carmen Bergstedt and Katie Thun led the Hawks with 20 and 17 points respectively while Rachael Hoium was also in double figures with 10 points. Also scoring for the Hawks were; Nicole Kucza with eight, three for Emily Neumann and two each for Caitlyn Windus, Lindsey McMillan, Carly Hanson, Kessiah Mosier and Darlan Nelson.

Proctor was led by the 21 points of Bridget Tesser while both Brianna Westendorf and Micayla Westendorf both scored five points, Kyra Harty had four points and both Laura Talarico and Kourtney Herpes had two points each.

The Hawks had six 3-pointers in the game with Bergstedt hitting five for Hermantown, while the Rails managed a pair of 3-pointers from Tesser.
