After falling to the Virginia Blue Devils, 3-1, in the second round of the playoffs, the Esko Eskomos needed to win six consecutive games to reclaim the Section 7AA crown for the third consecutive season.

That’s exactly what the Eskomos went on to do, starting with an 8-0 victory over Crosby-Ironton.

They followed that up with a 5-4 win over International Falls, 5-3 win over Proctor, and an 9-8 victory over Moose Lake-Willow River, securing their spot in the championship game.

In the championship, Esko went on to top Virginia twice by scores of 2-1 and 5-2, to make it a third consecutive trip to the Class AA state tournament.

In the title game, Emilee Wilson recorded her fifth win of the tournament. She pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs on seven hits, while striking out seven batters.

Offensively, Jenna Zdebski led the way, going 2×3 with a home run and two runs batted in.

Esko received the 5th seed in the Class AA tournament. They will face the 4th seeded Pipestone Area Arrows (22-2) on June 7th at 9:00am.
