South Ridge Loses Close Battle WIth Cherry

The Cherry Tigers broke away from a first half tie to take a 62-56 victory over the South Ridge Panthers in girls basketball on Monday night. Taylor Sauter finished with 20-points to lead the Tigers to the tight win.

While Sauter was doing her thing on the offensive end of the floor, the Panthers were also getting a strong individual effort from both Kendra Dallmann, who had 20 points and Mikayla Olesiak who had an 18-point night.

The teams were deadlocked at 28-28 at the half, but the Tigers outscored the Panthers 34-28 in the second half to slip out to the victory.

Joining Sauter in double figures were; Maria Clement with 12-points, Angel Dahl and Kristin Dahl both had 10-points.

Also scoring for South Ridge were; Kourtney Karppinen with seven points, Alyssa Johnson who had five points, while Marissa Thibault, Justice Janke and Laurel Morris all had a pair of points.

South Ridge hit three 3-pointers to just one for the Tigers, but Cherry had 25 field goals for the game, while the Panthers made just 18 field goals. The Panthers went 17-for-20 from the charity stripe, while the Tigers went 11-for-15 from the free throw line.


The loss puts the panthers at 2-1 on the early season; they will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Cook County at 4:45pm
