Section 7A Girls Basketball Semi-Finals Preview

The Section 7A semi-finals for girls basketball start this evening, with the top-seeded Mountain Iron Buhl Rangers (27-1), facing the 2nd seeded Cook County Vikings (14-10) at 5:45pm in Hibbing. The nightcap will be the other top-seeded team, in the Floodwood Polar Bears (19-9), squaring off with the 2nd seeded Bigfork Huskies (26-2).

The Rangers reached the semi-finals after a 73-24 victory over Nashwauk-Keewatin and a 79-20 victory over Deer River. Their opponent, the Cook County Vikings reached the semifinals after beating Fond du Lac, 87-17 and South Ridge, 55-49.

In the other semi-finals matchup, the Floodwood Polar Bears advanced by defeating Hill City, 50-33 and Carlton, 40-25. Bigfork advanced after toppling Northwoods by a score of 87-38 and defeating Cherry, 67-48.

The winners of each game will advance to the Section 7A Championship game, which will be played in Hibbing on March 9th with a tipoff of 7:30pm.
