Hunters Take Down Rails In Overtime

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters traveled to take on the Proctor Rails on Tuesday, winning an overtime matchup, 5-4.

The Hunters got out to a fast start in the game, going up 3-0 early after two goals from Brady Bastyr and a goal from Luke Eilefson. Proctor’s Reid Morin got the Rails on the board late in the period to make it a 3-1 score at the end of the first period.

In the second period, the Hunters went up 4-1 after a goal from Jacob Marciniak, but the Rails would match that goal when Evan O’Connor found the back of the net to make it 4-2.

The third period was all Proctor, who tied it up at 4-4 with a goal from Blake Koski and another goal from Evan O’Connor, sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, Duluth Denfeld would score a goal two minutes in when Payton Budisalovich found the back of the net to give the Hunters a 5-4 victory.

Benjamin LaFont made 15 saves for the Hunters, while Proctor’s Braxton Sathers also stopped 15 shots.

The Hunters are now 2-12 on the season and will look to string a winning streak together when they host the Duluth East Greyhounds on January 9th. The Rails drop to 6-8 on the year and will look to bounce back against the Moose Lake Area Rebels on January 7th.
