Proctor/Hermantown’s winning streak has hit double digits.

The Mirage, ranked No. 5 in the Class 1A state coaches’ poll, grabbed their 10th straight victory and took the Schwan Cup Gold Division championship with a 4-1 win over Class 2A opponent Lakeville North on Wednesday at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

Senior Callie Hoff tallied three goals, including the game-winner, for the Mirage (12-3, 1-0).

Proctor/Hermantown, a team that came in averaging 4.29 goals per game, didn’t waste much time getting on the board. Just 1:33 into the first period, the Mirage had a 1-0 lead thanks to junior forward Mariah Haedrich’s second goal of the season.

The No. 18-2A Panthers (7-7) responded in the first period with eighth-grader Erin Olson’s eighth goal of the season. She buried the puck on the doorstep off a rebound. Senior defenseman Lynne Freese fired the initial shot on net from the point.

The teams took turns exchanging offensive zone time in the second period, creating a few icings along the way.

Hoff broke the 1-1 tie with about five minutes left in the second, jamming the puck home right on the doorstep. She scored her second of the game with 2:25 left in the game to make it 3-1 before notching an empty-netter seconds before the final whistle.

Sophomore goaltender Ryan Gray made 27 saves for the Mirage. Sophomore Kallie Schneider stopped 16 shots for the Panthers.
