Polar Bears Secure Comeback Win

The Floodwood Polar Bears edged the Wrenshall Wrens, 30-26, after coming back from a 20 point deficit to secure the win.

Tyler Kelley got the Wrens out to an early lead, bolting 76 yards to the end zone to make it 8-0 in favor of the Wrens. In the 2nd quarter, Kelley would get into the end zone again, this time on a 26 yard run, pushing the Wrens lead to 14-0. The Polar Bears would cut into the lead before the half when Ricky Baker connected with Cam Goutermont on a 19 yard pass to make it 14-6 heading into the half.

 

 

In the 3rd quarter, Kelley found the end zone again from 18 yards out, pushing the Wrenshall lead to 20-6. Randy Wimmer would continue the scoring for the Wrens in the 4th quarter, plunging in from a yard out to make it 26-6.

The Polar Bears would then rally and score 24 unanswered points, starting with a pair of touchdowns from Dylan Graff, cutting the Wrenshall lead down to 26-22. The Polar Bears would then make a big defensive play when Gavin Clark recovered a fumble in the end zone to complete the comeback and secure the 30-26 win.

The Polar Bears are now 4-2 on the year and will travel to play the Carlton Bulldogs on October 14th. The Wrens fall to 2-4 on the year and will look to get back in the win column on October 14th when they host the South Ridge Panthers.
