Cloquet Runs Over Virginia

The Cloquet Lumberjacks faced off with the Virginia Blue Devils Friday night in Virginia, as two Lumberjacks ran for 100+ yards a piece, helping secure a 39-10 victory.

Joseph Deppa got things started for Cloquet, scoring on an 8-yard rush.  Spencer Wehr would follow suit shortly after, plunging it in from the 5-yard line.

Aahsan Maigag continued Cloquet’s scoring streak, pounding in a 5-yard score on the ground.  Maigag followed up his first score with a 42-yard scamper to help give the Jack’s a 27-0 lead at halftime.

Wehr would notch his second rushing touchdown of the game in the third quarter on an 18-yard dash.

Connor Cusick got the Blue Devils on the board in the third with a 36-yard field.

Cloquet’s Evan Pokornowski brought the Jack’s lead up to 39-3 with a 5-yard run for six.

Virginia managed to score their only touchdown of the game off a Jack Zupets 12-yard rush late in the fourth.

Maigag ended with 119 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Wehr finished with 103 yards and two scores.

Virginia will look ahead, as they next take on Eveleth-Gilbert next week.  Cloquet will battle with Duluth Denfeld next Friday.
