Plante wins 500th Game

Bruce Plante picked up his 500th career victory Wednesday night as the Hermantown Hawks rolled to a 6-3 victory over Roseville in the Marshall Hilltopper Classic Wednesday night.

Plante who has coached Hermantown to 11 of their 12 state hockey tournament appearances saw his Hermantown team start of quickly as the Hawks built up an early lead.

Jesse Jacques scored the games first two goals, and Brendan Baker, and Cole Koepke each tallied goals in the first period as the Hawks took a 4-1 lead after the first period.

Matt Valure and Dylan Kolquist scored second period goals as Hermantown went ahead 6-1 after two periods. Roseville would add two third period goals but it wasn’t enough as Hermantown improves to 9-1-1 and the will face Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in the championship game Thursday.
