Proctor Edges Duluth Marshall In OT

The Proctor Rails and Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers took the ice on Tuesday night. The Proctor Rails came out victorious in the tough fought game, winning 4-3 in overtime.

Derek Dahlgren gave the Rails the early 1-0 lead scoring at the 13 minute mark. Reid Morin and Jake Malec assisted on the goal. The lead would be increased to 2-0 when Malec found the back of the net on a power play goal at the 15:30 mark.

Duluth Marshall would cut into the lead early in the 2nd period with Levi Stauber scoring at the 7 minute mark. Keelan Golat and Lane Krenzen assisted on the gaol. Willy Stauber would knot it up for Duluth Marshall at the 10:30 mark on a power play goal that was assisted by Levi Stauber and Krenzen, making it 2-2.

In the 3rd period, Malec gave the Rails the 3-2 lead scoring just 2 minutes into the period. Late in the period, Tyler Pedersen scored the equalizer on a power play goal at the 15 minute mark, making it 3-3.

In overtime, Malec tallied his hat trick, scoring just a minute into overtime to give the Rails the 4-3 victory over the Hilltoppers.

Proctor’s Braxton Sathers stopped an impressive 32 shots on the evening. Hilltopper’s Cullen Mudrak stopped 6 in the loss.

The Rails are now 3-2 on the season and will look to continue on their 3 game winning streak when they travel to play Lake of the North on December 4th. The Hilltoppers fall to 0-4 on the year and will look for their first win on December 3rd when they host Hermantown.
