Esko Wins Season Opener

The Esko Eskomos and Cloquet Lumberjacks took the court on Tuesday night, seeing the Eskomos topple the Lumberjacks, 49-30.

The Eskomos went ahead by nine at the half, leading 23-14. They would continue the dominance, outscoring the Lumberjacks 26-16 in the second half, winning 49-30.

Ava Gonsorowski led the way for the Eskomos, scoring 14 on the night. Mac Holland also got in double digits, scoring 10 in the win. Also scoring in the game was Macy Sunnarborg and Karlie Kulas, who each tallied 8, Mandi Dincau added 5, and Selena Shady rounded out the scoring with 4.

Kassidy Steen led the Lumberjacks with 12 points in the loss. Anna Fossen followed with 10. Also scoring was Kendra Kelley who added 3, Carmen Foss and Vanna Kelley both pitched in 2, and Jess Stone topped it off with 1.

The Eskomos kick their season off 1-0 and will look for another early season win when they travel to play the Hermantown Hawks on December 3rd. The Lumberjacks start off 0-1 and will look to win their first game of the year on the road against Ashland on December 4th.
