Hermantown Beats Superior Behind Thun’s 16 Strikeout Performance

Katie Thun gave up just two hits and the Hermantown Hawks continued a torrid winning pace on the season by beating Superior 4-0 in girls softball on Thursday afternoon.

The Hawks rode the steady pitching of Thun, who finished with a two-hitter and 16-strikeouts, to the win.

Celine Francisco led the Hawks with a double and a pair of RBIs and Ashley Irwin also picked up an RBI for Hermantown.

The win propels the young Hawks into the double digit win column with an overall record of 10-6. They will be back in action on Friday when they finish out the season with a home double-header. The first game features a huge match-up against Grand Rapids with a season finale game against Greenway to follow.
