Hawks Tennis Comes up Short Against Marshall

The Hermantown boys tennis team lost a tough match at home to Duluth Marshall on Monday afternoon by a 6-1 score.

Nolan Myre and Brett Sterk, playing at #3 doubles, managed to pick up the lone win for the Hawks. The duo defeated the Marshall team of David Loltz and Jordan Shocley 6-3 and 6-4. Jesse Dyson and Travis Peterson lost at #1 doubles to Evan Goldschmidt and Nick Senabush 6-2, 6-3 and Brody Dammer and Jasin Hammer fell to Brian Anderson and Killian McKee 6-4, 6-1.

In singles play it was Jeremy Amys losing at #1 to Joey Kronzer 6-0, 6-0, while Nakul Aggarwal fell at #2 singles to Mat Goldschmidt 6-1, 6-0. Marshall’s Dan Letourngan beat Hermantown’s Joel Gustafson 6-0, 6-2 at #3 singles and John Fox of the Hilltoppers capped off the singles sweep by beating Sean Gibbon of Hermantown 6-3, 6-4.


Things won’t get a lot easier for the Hawks who will travel to Virginia to take on the Bluedevils and Eveleth-Gilbert on Tuesday.
