Proctor Extends Winning Streak With Comeback Win Over Cloquet

PROCTOR — The Rails rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 6-4 deficit as Proctor defeated Cloquet by a score of 7-6 in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game at Proctor.

Jimmy Merling had an RBI single and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning for Proctor. He was two-for-four with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a stolen base.

Ben Nelson (2-0, 1.71 ERA) allowed four earned runs on nine hits in the complete game win. He had three strikeouts.

Losing pitcher Adam Hanson allowed three earned runs in four and one-third innings on seven hits and three walks. He had two strikeouts.

Pat Everson hit a two-run double for Proctor.

Derek Anderson, Tyler McCauley, and Beau Michaud had two hits apiece for Cloquet.

With the win, Proctor is now 9-0 while defending Section 7AA champion Cloquet falls to 6-3.
