6 Run 2nd Inning Gives Esko A 15-5 Victory Over Barnum

The Esko Eskomos won their second game of the season on Thursday as the Eskomos knocked off the Barnum Bombers by a score of 15-5 in five innings in this Polar League contest at Esko.


Esko jumped out in front in the bottom of the first inning taking a 1-0 lead, Barnum answered back with two runs in the top of the second to take their only lead of the game at 2-1. The Eskomos, who were seeking their second consecutive win put up six runs in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back as the Eskomos built the 7-2 lead after two inning.


Barnum did respond by adding two runs in the top of the third to cut the lead to 7-4, but it was the Eskomos answering the bell as they scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning and added five more in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 15-4 lead after four innings. The Bombers added one run in the top of the fifth but it wasn’t enough as the Eskomos ten run the Bombers in five.


Jared Mattson led the Eskomos going 3-4 on the afternoon with a run scored and two runs batted in. Max Reinertson was 2-4 with a run scored and two RBI’s, Ryan Holte added two runs batted in for the Eskomos in the victory at home. Esko is back in action on Friday when they play their fifth game of this week as they host Hermantown.


The Bombers finished with seven hits on the afternoon as a team, Naslund, Newman, Rilea, Minkkinen, Hogan, and Saarela all had hits in the loss. Jaden Rilea had two hits for the Bombers in the loss. Barnum falls to 1-7 on the season overall and they will play at Silver Bay on Friday.
