Duluth Marshall silenced the Barnum Bomber bats on Monday when the Bombers were searching for their tenth win of the season. The Bombers struggled from the plate as they fell to the Hilltoppers by a score of 6-3.

“We didn’t hit the ball today,” head coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “The pitcher we faced, I thought we would have success, but we couldn’t get anything started,” Duesler added. The Bombers are looking to improve on their standings as the Section 5A tournament starts next week.

“All we could muster was four hits today,” Duesler stated. The Bombers made things easy on the Duluth Marshall pitcher, as the Bombers would strike out ten times on the afternoon. Kyle Duesler, Brody Peterson, Alex Hassett, and Frankie Barrios each had a hit in the loss for the Bombers. Peterson would have the only run batted in.

Josh Hogan was the losing pitcher for the Bombers, but Duesler would say, “Josh pitched very well today, we had one bad inning, and we gave up three unearned runs in the one inning…Giving up five outs to another team won’t win many games,” Duesler would mention.

Barnum falls to 9-8 on the season and will play at Moose Lake on Tuesday, taking on the Moose Lake–Willow River Rebels. Duluth Marshall raises its record to 4-10 on the season and will play Ashland on Tuesday afternoon.
