CLOQUET – Adam Hanson continues to lead the Cloquet baseball this spring with dominating performances. Friday afternoon Hanson gave up six hits and fanned five as the Lumberjacks defeated the Hermantown Hawks 6-2.

The Hawks could not overcome a four run first inning which saw the Jacks score the first two runs on wild pitches. Normally reliable pitcher Jared Thomas struggled to find the plate early, issuing a walk and hitting a batter before giving way to Jesse Olson early in the first inning. Olson pitched a five hitter for the remainder of the game, but the early damage, five Hermantown errors and great defense by the Jacks decided the game.

Leading the offense for the Jacks was led by Beau Michaud who was two for three at the plate with 2 RBI’s. Cole Johnson added a hit and an RBI while the defense turned three double plays.

Both teams won earlier in the day with Cloquet besting Marshall by a score of 9-2 while the Hawks shutout Greenway by an 8-0 score before making the trip to Cloquet.

The loss was only the second of the season for the hawks who are now 5-2 on the season. Cloquet advances their record to 5-3 with the pair of wins on the day.

The Jacks will be back in action on Monday when they face Duluth East at Wade Stadium. Hermantown will have a quick turnaround when they host International Falls Saturday at 2:00pm.
