Taylor Blundell pitched seven strong innings and the Cloquet Lumberjack baseball team had just enough hitting to come away with a 3-1 win over Eveleth-Gilbert at home on Wednesday afternoon.

For his part Blundell tossed a 5-hitter, walked four and gave up just one-earned run in his seven innings.

The Lumberjacks got off to a quick start in the first inning when Adam Hanson tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by Cole Johnson. Cloquet added two more runs in the bottom of third inning when Derek Anderson and Cole Johnson drew walks to lead off the inning. Kaleb Kadelbach singled home Anderson, and after Eric Peterson walked, Tyler McCauley followed with a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Johnson for a 3-0 Jacks lead.

The Golden Bears picked up their lone run in the top of the sixth inning with a two-out single by Matt Roberts that scored Brett Kivela.
