A rough start to the final inning cost the Cloquet softball team a win on Thursday afternoon at Braun Park. The Lumberjacks held a 3-2 lead entering the final stanza, but errors and walks led to a snowball type effect that eventually cost them an 8-6 loss to the Ashland Oredockers.

Trouble started for the Jacks when they committed two errors in the final innings and that was combined with three walks and the lead suddenly changed into an 8-2 deficit. A bottom of the seventh inning rally was not enough to allow the Jacks to bounce back for the win.

Cloquet slugged out 13 hits to just seven, but four errors and four walks helped to contribute to the loss.

Makenzie Korby, Dalyce Gustafson, Alyssa Michaelson and Kayla Masessa all smacked out multiple hit games and Denise Rodd took the loss on the mound with complete game, seven strikeout performance to go along with four walks.
