Lady Bulldogs Stay Perfect On The Season With 5-Inning Win

The Carlton Bulldogs girls softball team remained perfect on the season as the Bulldogs knocked off AlBrook by a score of 16-3 in the five inning sectional contest at Chub Lake Park on Monday afternoon.


The Bulldogs with the sectional win move to 6-0 on the season, AlBrook’s three runs were the first of the year given up by the Bulldogs. Carlton had previously outscored their opponents 52-0 in their first five games.


Brooke Camps who is batting better than .700 on the season, scored the first of six runs in the bottom of the first innings to take the lead 6-1. AlBrook ended the Bulldogs shutout streak in the top of the first when they scored one run as Alyssa Johnson tripled and scored on a Kourtney Karppinen single.


Brooke Camps, at bat for the second time in the first inning ripped a single which allowed two runs to score to put the Bulldogs in a comfortable situation with the five run lead after one inning. Carlton added four more runs in the third inning and six more in the fourth to end the contest in five innings.


AlBrook added runs in the second inning and again in the fifth inning, but the Falcons could not overcome the seven crucial errors they committed. That, along with eleven bases on balls given up by the AlBrook pitching staff, was more than they could overcome.


Brooke Camps finished officially 1-1 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI’s, McKinzie Belanger was 1-2 with 3 RBI’s for Carlton in the win, Megan Bodin was the winning pitcher as she struck out two Falcon Batters.


Alyssa Johnson was 3-3 for AlBrook, she finished with a single and two triples on the afternoon.
