Duluth East Falls On The Road

The Duluth East Greyhounds traveled to play the Monticello Magic on Friday night, but would fall 51-12, despite Jack Rashid throwing for 215 yards and scampering for two touchdowns.

Monticello got off to a hot start with Jack Hoaby catching a 17 yard pass from Nick Zwack. Charlie Voller converted to two points making it 8-0.

It would move to 16-0 before the end of the first after Magic’s Nate Hoglund plowed 9 yards into the end zone.

Monticello made it 22-0 when Voller snagged a 31 yard pass from Zwack. Duluth East’s Jack Rashid got the Greyhounds on the board on a 3 yard run, cutting the Magic lead to 22-6.

Zwack connected with Hoaby for the second time on the evening, this time from 15 yards. Aaron Hanson then converted the two points to put their lead to 30-6.

It would be 38-6 at the half after Ryder Beckman scampered 5 yards into the end zone. Hanson converted the two points once again.

Hoglund pushed the lead up to 45-6 after a 20 yard run into the end zone in the 3rd quarter. Rashid got his second touchdown of the night, this time from just a yard out to make it 45-12.

In the 4th quarter, Monticello’s Carsten Scherber ran 10 yards to make it a final of 51-12.

The Greyhounds are not 1-3 on the season with the loss and will look to be back in the win category on September 18th when they travel to play the North Branch Vikings (1-3) at 7:00pm.

The Magic from Monticello moved to 4-0 with the victory.
