Hawks Tennis Comes Up Short Against Grand Rapids

The Hermantown Hawks won one singles match and one doubles match in a tough 5-2 loss to Grand Rapids in boys high school tennis on Monday afternoon.

The lone win at singles for the Hawks came at #4 singles where Nakul Agarwall defeated Nick Thies 6-1 and 7-5. In doubles the win came at #3 doubles when Sean Gibbon and Brody Dammer defeated Dam Dulong and Colton Anderson by scores of 6-1, 6-1.

In singles play the Hawks, Jeremy Amys lost at #1 to Conor Hoolinan 6-2, 6-1. At #2 it was the Thunderhawk’s Austin Stefanich defeating Hermantown’s Joel Gustafson 6-3, 6-0 and at #3 it was Gus Fedji-Johnson of Grand Rapids beating Cody Nuebarth.

At #1 doubles the Hermantown team of Jesse Dyson and Nolan Myre were shutout 6-0, 6-0 by Jared Sherman and Charlie Roy. Travis Peterson and Brett Sterk of Hermantown dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at #2 doubles to Evan Reitter and Daulton Anderson of Grand Rapids.


The Hawks will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Aitkin Gobblers.
