Thunder Sweep Mesabi Range at Home on Wednesday

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women’s softball team completed a sweep of Mesabi Range Community College on Wednesday afternoon at Braun Park in Cloquet. The Thunder won the opener 12-4 in five innings and then took the nightcap 12-2 also in five innings.

Katie Youngberg (Moose Lake-Willow River) pitched a 7-hitter in the opener for the Thunder, she also backed her pitching efforts at the plate with two hits and three RBI’s including a double. Lisa Muehlberger (Duluth Central) continued her hot hitting with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. Anna Engelmeier (Hermantown) also had three hits and two RBI’s and Holly Nelson (Carlton) added three RBI’s.

Ariel Morris (AlBrook) led the hitting attack in game two with three hits and a pair of RBI’s, while Nelson and Youngberg both added two hits and two rbi’s. Kassi Neary (Hill City) pitched three innings and gave up one run while getting the win and the save went to Kalee Harp of Cromwell who pitched the final two innings.
