Esko Girls Shut Out ML-WR Win Polar League Championship

The Esko Eskomos and the Moose Lake Willow River Rebels battled in a classic duel on Thursday at Willow River, with the Eskomos coming away with a 2-0 victory. This was a pitchers battle as Kelsey Saralampi and Katie Youngberg
fought the entire game.


It was the Eskomos who got on the scoreboard first as they scored two runs in the top of the first to jump out in front at 2-0. The two runs that Esko scored were both unearned coming off two Rebel errors.


Saralampi was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings giving up no runs, three hits and had ten strikeouts. Youngberg pitched a fine game as well for the Rebels as she pitched seven innings, giving up just the two unearned runs.
Youngberg gave up two hits, had five strikeouts and walked six Eskomo batters. Amanda Larson, Mary Moonen, and Maddy Adamczak had the three Moose Lake-Willow River hits.


Esko ends their season with a13-5 record and wins the Polar League Crown, going a perfect 8-0 in conference action.

The Eskomos
received a number two seeding in subsection one of the girls Section 7AA softball playoffs. Esko will face Crosby-Ironton Tuesday at Braun Park in Cloquet. Moose Lake-Willow River finishes their season at 11-4 on the season and have earned the number four seed in subsection one and will play Pequot Lakes on Tuesday in Cloquet at Braun Park.
