May 14

When Cloquet played in Superior in girls softball on May 5th, things just didn’t go right from the start. The Spartans grabbed an early 7-0 lead and
appeared to be unstoppable. Cloquet switched pitchers and brought in Katrina Korman who slammed the door and the Jacks scratched back to within 7-4 when rain suspended the game. That game was finished last night and the Jacks completed an improbable comeback as they defeated the Spartans 10-8.

Korman did not allow a hit in her five innings of relief and when the suspended game resumed on Thursday, the Jacks found themselves with bases loaded and Kelly Carlson at the plate. Cloquet scored six more runs before the inning ended as they produced all 10 runs in the fourth inning alone.

Courtney Esse finished with a 3-hit day, Korman and Mariah Smith both added a pair of hits in the come-from-behind win.

Emily Eisenmann and Britnee Blake both bashed out a pair of hits for the Spartans and Eisenmann added 2 RBIs.
