ML-WR Girls Beat Two Harbors

The Moose Lake-Willow River girls softball team bounced back after a loss to Silver Bay on Tuesday with a 10-5 victory over Two Harbors on Wednesday. The Rebels exploded for ten plus runs for the sixth time this season, picking up their eleventh win of the season. This
matches their win total for last season, including playoffs.

“Our bats were alive today,” head coach Katie Collier stated to Northland Sports Online. “We hit the ball and we had several girls step up at the plate.” Moose Lake–Willow River had five players with two or more hits in the victory.

Amanda Larson led the way for the Rebels as she was 4-5 from the plate with an RBI; Sam Juhl was 3-5 with a double and 2 RBIs. Molly Wasche was 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Hillary Peterson finished 4-4 with 3 RBIs and two doubles. Katie Youngberg was 3-4 with 2 RBIs.

Katie Youngberg was the winning pitcher for the Rebels.
She pitched seven innings and faced thirty-three batters. Youngberg gave up five runs, only two of them earned, on four hits. Katie also had ten strikeouts while walking only two Agate batters.

ML-WR improves to 11-3 on the season and will finish their regular season Thursday as they host the Esko Eskomos in Willow River. Two Harbors falls to 4-11 on the season and
will host Cook County Thursday and play at AlBrook on Friday.
