7AA Softball Seedings Announced

The Section 7AA girls’ softball tournament pairings were announced this afternoon; northlandsportsonline.com has learned that Cloquet and Hermantown have received the #1 seeds in each of the sub-sections.

The Esko Eskomos, after an appeals process, moved up one position to the number two seed in subsection one.

After the initial round of seeding, section coaches had voted Esko as the number three seed and Aitkin the number two seed based on won-loss record. However, after an examination of strength of schedule it was determined that Esko should be awarded the number two seed.

Cloquet is the #1 seed in Subsection 1 and Hermantown is the #1 seed in Subsection 2. The Lumberjacks, who play in a subsection with only seven teams, will receive a first round bye in the playoffs. Cloquet will play the winner of the Greenway and Duluth Marshall game next Thursday in Cloquet at Braun Park. Greenway was seeded #4 and Marshall was seeded #5 in Subsection 2.

Below is a complete listing for seedings in each subsection. You will note that it has not been decided whether Proctor or Hibbing is the Subsection 2 sixth seed with the other team being the seventh seed. There will be a coin flip later today to determine those two positions.
