After drafting Karl-Anthony Towns with the number one overall pick in the 2015 draft, and trading for local star Tyus Jones at the 24 spot, the Timberwolves are looking to add even more exciting youth to the nucleus already consisting of Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, and Ricky Rubio.

The last time the wolves made the playoffs, Karl-Anthony Towns was 8 years old, and Kevin Garnett was a perennial MVP candidate. Even with that drought, fan interest seems to be at an all-time high nowadays.

On July 8th, the Timberwolves hosted a free to the public Summer Showcase, with attendance drawing 15,200 for a simple scrimmage. Impressive, for an organization that has never won an NBA title, and drafted Jonny Flynn one spot before Stephen Curry.

After seeing season ticket sales number drastically improve after acquiring Wiggins, and again after this recent draft, the future does indeed look bright. In a recent interview with grantland.com, Kevin Garnett had this to say about the upcoming season; “If you’re coming to camp on September 29, and you’re coming with the idea that we’re not going to make the playoffs, don’t even bother coming in.”

Keep a close eye on the “timber-pups” this year, as they have the pieces, now they need the development, and it should be extremely fun to watch.
