A pair of Northland catchers have committed to play baseball in 2017 for the North Dakota State Bison. Esko’s Nick Emanuel and Proctor’s Jake Malec have both verbally committed to playing for the Bison after their senior seasons.

Emanuel, who has been a three year starter, announced his commitment to the Bison via Twitter on August 1st. Malec followed, announcing his commitment on August 5th, also via Twitter.

Emanuel put up phenomenal stats last season, batting .413 and tallying 24 RBI’s along with 4 home runs while leading the Eskomos to an 11-10 record. Malec batted .431 last season and also showed what he can do on the mound, fanning 29 in 28 innings and posting a 1.73 ERA for the Hawks.

Emanuel and Malec both look to produce and lead the way once again for their teams in 2016, as they both will compete in the crowded Section 7AA this next season.

Northland Sports Online would like to congratulate both Nick Emanuel and Jake Malec on their commitments to NDSU!
