Jacks Fast Start Leads to Victory

The Cloquet Lumberjacks used a fast start Thursday afternoon as the Lumberjacks jumped out to a 9-1lead after two innings as the lumberjacks beat rival Hermantown by a score of 11-3 at Mettner Field in Cloquet.

Gavin Takkunen had three hits for the Lumberjacks including a double and a triple, as they were also aided by 5 Hermantown errors in the 8 run victory.

Nathan Weets picked up the win for the Lumberjacks as he pitched 5 innings allowed 5 hits 2 earned runs for the win while Takkunen pitched the final two innings.

Brandon Conklin and Alec Norrgard each drove in two runs in the Cloquet win, Weets also added 2 hits for Clqoue and Takkunen scored three runs.

Eric Gotz had two hits for the Hawks and Parker Hawk drove in two of the three Hermantown Runs in the top of the third innings.

The Lumberjacks improve to 5-3 on the season and they will be home Monday as they will host Greenway at 4:30 pm.

Hermantown falls to 0-9 overall and they are back in action again Friday afternoon when they host Duluth Denfeld in Hermantown.
