The Floodwood Polar Bears overcame an 11 point deficit to beat the Northwoods Grizzlies for the third time this season to advance to the section 7A Title game Friday night back at UMD.

Darnell Goggleye and Cole Martin each had their way for North Woods in the first half as the Grizzlies built up a 29-26 lead at the break, but Floodwood battled back in the second half to come from behind and pick up the three point victory.

With the game tied at 51-51 with time winding down it the Polar Bears came through with a few timely free throws, from Riley Brensdorf and Ryder Lough which salted away the game and sent them to Friday’s championship game game.

Northwoods had opportunities in the last minute to tie or take the lead but missed free throws and a shot down low by Cole Martin rolled off and it was a Floodwood victory by three.

Floodwood’s Riley Bernsdorf led all scorers with 27 points including two huge three pointers in the second half. Willow Christenson added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
