Deer River Upsets Broncos

Deer River upset the International Falls Broncos in the section quarterfinals at Duluth Denfeld Saturday afternoon by a score of 76-69.

The Warriors return to the section semi finals for the first time in three seasons. The four seeded Warriors avenged a nine point loss to open the season.

Aaron Drotts scored 29 points to match Ben Humbert of International Falls for a game high. Deer River opened up a 37-22 lead at halftime and withstood a second half comeback by the Broncos.

Tyler Anttila added 16 points and Cody Shevich chipped in with 11 points for the Warriors who will now face Esko in the section semi finals as they improve to 18-10 on the season.

Allen Johnson and Jack Bartkowski also scored in double figures for International Falls with 11 and 10 points respectively, as their season ends with a record of 22-6.
