Cloquet Sweeps Proctor In Double Header

In the Lumberjacks second double header in a week, they traveled to take on the Proctor Rails. In the opening game, the Lady Lumberjacks topped the Proctor Rails 53-39. The the boys game, the Lumberjacks throttled the Rails, 85-61.

The Lady Jacks got out to a quick start against the Rails, going up 41-24 at halftime. The Rails would outscore the Jacks 15-12 in the second half but it wouldn’t be enough as the Jacks took home the 14 point victory.

Kassidy Steen led the way for the Jacks, scoring a team high 22 points in the win. Anna Fossen followed with 8 points, Kaylee McMillen tallied 7, Hazel Erickson and Allie Wojtysiak both added 5, Nicole Blatchford pitched in 4, and Kendra Kelley rounded it out with 2.

In the loss for the Rails, Lexie DeWall had a game high 27 points. Kiara Westendorf and Taylor Myers each scored 3 points, Krista Mottonen and Kailee Dagger pitched in 2 each, and Marissa Larson and Paige Nylund topped it off with 1 point each.

In boys action, the Lumberjacks held a 44-30 advantage at the half. They would come out of the second half with the same mentality as they outscored the Rails 41-31 to secure the win.

Mason Brenner led the way for the Lumberjacks tallying 31 points and hitting 9 threes in the win. Brandon Hill followed with 16 points which included 5 shots made from beyond the arch, and Zach Gerlach hit double figures with 14. Also scoring was Gavin Takkunen with 9 points, Nate Weets with 8, Rand Bieri with 3, and Nicholas Nelson and Bryce Turnbull with 2 a piece.

In the loss for the Rails, Jordan Wetterlind notched 24 points followed by Bryden Urie who had 11. Travis Carlson scored 8 in the loss, Beau Adams pitched in 6, John Pioro scored 5, Chase Urie notched 4, Dakota Ellis-Ciaccio added 2, and Aaron Pinney rounded it out with 1.

The Lady Jacks move to 11-13 on the season and will play their season finale on the road against the MLWR Rebels on February 24th. The Rails fall to 6-16 on the year and will host the Hermantown Hawks on February 20th.

For the boys, the Lumberjacks move to 16-9 on the season and will play their season finale on the road against Duluth Marshall on February 23rd. The Rails drop to 14-11 on the year and host the Hermantown Hawks in their season finale on February 20th.
